Stair Tread Template
Every stair tread is a different shape. Measuring each one twice doesn't make it fit.
Existing staircases are never perfectly square. The walls splay. The stringers aren't parallel. The nosing isn't consistent. You can take six separate measurements per tread and still scribe cuts that don't sit right — or you can use a stair tread template that captures the actual geometry in one operation and transfers it directly to the material.
What it does
- Adjustable profile capture — the template conforms to the exact shape of the tread opening: width, front angle, back angle, and any deviation from square
- Locks in position — once set to the opening, the geometry is captured and held so you can move to the material without the template changing on you
- Direct transfer to material — lay it on the blank, scribe around it, and cut; no interpreting measurements, no translating dimensions
- Works for irregular spaces — handles winder treads, angled walls, and out-of-square openings that would take multiple measurements and a protractor to capture by tape
How it's built
- Extendable aluminum arms — reach across full tread widths up to standard stair width without gaps in the reference
- Locking thumbscrews — hold every arm position precisely once set; won't slip while moving to the workpiece
- Lightweight — easy to carry up and down the staircase between treads without tools
Who it's for
Flooring installers, stair builders, and finish carpenters fitting hardwood or laminate treads on existing staircases. Particularly valuable on renovation work where the original construction isn't square and every tread opening is slightly different from the last.
Capture the shape. Transfer it directly. Cut once — and fit right.

Customer Testimonials
Build quality is obvious the second you pick it up.
I've bought a lot of tools online. This is the first time I didn't feel like I was gambling. Solid, precise, no wobble, no play. Does exactly what it says.
The 60-day trial is what convinced me to order.
Used it on a real project for six weeks before deciding. Haven't thought about returning it once. The trial period removes all the risk — that alone tells you they're confident in what they make.
Arrived fast, packaged properly, works perfectly.
No complaints from order to delivery to first use. Packaging was solid, nothing loose inside, tool was ready to go. Simple as it should be.
