About Us

Built for the Work That Matters

Turstein makes precision tools for woodworkers, makers, and builders who refuse to compromise on accuracy. Every product we ship is built to perform in a real workshop — not just in a catalog photo.

The Problem We Set Out to Solve

Every woodworker knows the moment. You've cut the joints, prepared the stock, mixed the glue — and when it comes time to hold the corner true for assembly, you're suddenly short a hand. You're balancing a square with one hand, holding the panel with another, trying to drive a screw with a third hand you don't have.

Most squares tell you when you're out of square. None of them hold the corner while you fasten it.

That was the gap we built the CS90 to fill: a precision clamping square that seats into the corner with one hand, locks the angle, and stays there while you work. Both hands free. Corner held to ±0.025°.

How We Build

Every Turstein square starts as a billet of aerospace-grade aluminium alloy. It's machined in a single CNC setup — no weld lines, no flex points, no assembly joints. One continuous piece of metal, ground to geometry.

Before a square leaves the mill, it's measured on a granite surface plate against a certified master square. Our tolerance is ±0.025°. Anything outside that goes back. Not to a shelf. Back to the mill.

The hard anodized finish is grown into the aluminium at around HV 400 — harder than mild steel. It can't chip, flake, or transfer colour to your work. It doesn't react with PVA, polyurethane, or flux. It's not a coating. It's a surface treatment that makes the tool more durable than the day you bought it.

The Standard We Hold

±0.025°. Every unit. Not a batch sample. Not a statistical claim. Every square, measured individually before it ships.

That's roughly five hundredths of a millimetre of deviation at the tip of a 120mm leg — about ten times finer than a pencil line. It means that when you pull four squares out of the box for a cabinet carcass, all four are working to the same reference. Your diagonals match. Your drawers fit. Your face frame sits flush.

We hold this standard because anything looser isn't precision — it's just a number on a box.

Scandinavian by Design

Turstein is a Scandinavian tool brand. We draw on a tradition that values restraint, honesty, and long-term thinking over novelty. Our tools are not designed to impress on a shelf. They are designed to perform over years of real use — to be the tool you reach for without thinking, because it has never let you down.

We make fewer things than most tool brands. We make them better. And we stand behind every one of them.

Our Promise

60-Day Workshop Trial. Use it on real projects. Cabinets, drawers, frames, glue-ups. If it hasn't earned a permanent place in your shop within 60 days, send it back. No forms, no argument — prepaid return label included.

2-Year Warranty. Built for repeated shop use and backed for two years. If something goes wrong under normal use, we make it right.
